Cake Shops in Royal Tunbridge Wells

About cake shops

A proper cake shop is a small act of optimism on the high street: glass counters lined with Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and coffee-and-walnut, a fridge of cream-filled things that will not survive the bus home, and someone behind the till who knows which cake came out of the oven at seven this morning. This directory gathers cake shops from open data across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland so you can find the nearest one quickly.

What to order

• Victoria sponge slice – The benchmark: a moist, even crumb with fresh jam tells you the shop takes basics seriously.
• Lemon drizzle – Look for a crunchy sugar top and a sponge that is properly soaked, not dry in the middle.
• Carrot cake – Spiced, moist and topped with cream cheese frosting that should taste tangy rather than just sweet.
• Chocolate fudge cake – A dense, rich crowd-pleaser that is a safe bet for a last-minute birthday.
• Traybake squares – Millionaire's shortbread, rocky road and flapjack travel well and keep for a few days.
